Let's talk about The Never-Ending Battle Within
Resistance is a formidable adversary. Even in the midst of your greatest, most spirit-aligned passion project, the battles within the mind can be more intense than any external challenges you may come up against.
Take my experience of crafting a proposal yesterday for a project that genuinely excited me. The mental hurdles, the procrastination—it felt like an eternal struggle to just write some words on the page.
The truth is, creativity often confronts resistance, and it's not a gentle adversary. The blank page can seem daunting, the ideas elusive, and the fear of imperfection paralyzing. I found myself pacing the room, facing the mental blocks that threatened to hinder the creative process... UNTIL I just committed to writing a shitty first draft.
I can say, this is a consistent experience for all TWELVE CHILDREN'S BOOKS I wrote and published last year at Majik Kids!
The First Draft Conundrum
The first draft is the crucible of creation, the point where resistance rears its head with its most potent force.
Confronting that blank canvas can be unnerving. But here's a piece of wisdom from the trenches of experience from 19-years of consistently making Majik on the internet: the first draft is supposed to be messy, imperfect, and, frankly, a little bit awful.
I swear by this principle: set a timer, duct-tape yourself to the chair, and write without pause until that timer beeps or until you pee your pants. It's a battle strategy against resistance, a commitment to face the discomfort head-on.
And let me assure you, the initial words that hit the page might not be Shakespearean, but they are the foundation upon which brilliance is built. You just have to get started with that idea swirling inside your head.
Writing is the first step in taking etheric energy and bringing it into the physical world!
The Power of Iteration
Writing a shitty draft is not a failure; it's a triumph over resistance. The secret lies not in producing perfection from the get-go but in embracing the messy, imperfect process of creation. The power comes in the iteration—edit, rewrite, edit again. ChatGPT can be a good tool for editing your drafts as you go. Note: I would never let it write me a first draft though. Each pass is a step towards refinement, a sculpting of raw ideas into a polished masterpiece.
It's a lesson that extends far beyond the realm of writing. Whether you're an artist, an entrepreneur, or a creator in any form, the process of creation is rarely smooth. It's about facing resistance, overcoming the urge to procrastinate, and persisting through the discomfort until you birth something remarkable.
With Fierce Focus you Shall Prevail
Don't be a goldfish. Stop scrolling and wasting your precious time. If you'd just get this damn draft done, you could go outside and have some fun. Reclaim your attention, harness your focus, be powerful.
Your fear, doubt, worries, excuses, perfectionism and distractibility stop here and now. You are more powerful than these algorithms that hold you captivated. You have important work to share. There are people counting on you and waiting for you to drop some wisdom into their lives so they can make powerful, positive changes.
But here you are, procrastinating and letting resistance win again... At what cost?
Do I have to pull out the duct tape?
Get back to work!!

The reward for overcoming resistance is unparalleled satisfaction. It is so empowering to finish what you started!
The moment when you hit publish, send that proposal, or unveil your creation to the world—it's a victory earned through tenacity and courage. It's the satisfaction of knowing that you faced the resistance, stared it down, and emerged victorious on the other side.
So, if you find yourself resisting, then remember this wisdom. Set that timer, anchor yourself to the chair, and don't stop until it's done. Because on the other side of resistance lies the sweet taste of creative victory, and perhaps even some form of sweet, well-earned reward!
